Everything a real edit needs

No locked features, no watermarks, no subscription. Just a serious editor built in the open.

Multitrack timeline

Professional trim tools (Select, Blade, Ripple, Roll, Slip, Slide) and three-point Insert, Overwrite and Fit to Fill with source patching, track targeting and sync lock. Lift and Extract, markers, linked A/V, nested sequences, multicam, reverse and keyframed speed ramps.

Non-destructive editing

Every cut, trim and effect is reversible. Your original media is never altered, ever.

First-class undo / redo

Every edit is undoable, built into the core of Sprocket. A whole slider drag is one clean undo step, not fifty.

Keyframing & color grading

Animate any effect parameter with keyframe lanes and an editable velocity graph. Grade with color wheels, curves, an HSL qualifier and scopes, start from 20 built-in looks or your own .cube LUTs, and bring in log footage from DJI, ARRI, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Blackmagic, Fujifilm and Nikon. Black & White and Day for Night included.

Hardware-accelerated

GPU compositing and hardware decode (D3D11VA, CUDA, QSV, VAAPI, VideoToolbox), plus proxy media and a timeline render cache to keep heavy edits smooth.

A serious audio suite

Sample-accurate mixer with insert chains at clip, track, bus and master scope. Reverbs (including convolution with your own impulse responses), delays, EQ, compressor and noise gate built in, with LUFS loudness metering, normalization and an output device picker.

Generators, titles & transitions

Titles, lower thirds, credits rolls and crawls with inline editing, adjustment layers, and a transition library. What you preview is exactly what exports.

Full export pipeline

H.264, HEVC, AV1, VP9, MPEG-2 and ProRes across MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and TS. Hardware encoders (NVENC, QSV, AMF, VAAPI, VideoToolbox), a fast draft mode, an export queue, burn-ins, audio-only export, and EDL and Final Cut XML interchange.

AI control, built in

An opt-in, local-only MCP server with ~70 tools lets AI assistants edit the timeline through the same undoable command stack you use. Every AI edit is one Ctrl+Z away from gone.

Video stabilization

Translation, Similarity and Perspective methods with adaptive smoothing, focus-breathing scale lock and auto-zoom cropping. Analysis runs in the background and preview matches export.

VFX & atmospherics

Glow, zoom and directional blur, shockwave, heat distortion and impact shake. Smoke, fog, dust, embers, sparks and light leaks, action presets like muzzle flash and explosions, and a one-tap toy cassette camera look.

Open plugin support

A Plugin Manager hosts LADSPA and LV2 audio plugins and frei0r video filters alongside Sprocket's own effects, so you can extend the editor with the open plugin ecosystem.

One editor, every desktop

One codebase, self-contained builds for every desktop. Same project file everywhere.

Signed builds & native plugins are on the way

The feature build-out is essentially complete. What remains on the road to beta: code-signed and notarized installers, VST3/AU audio plugins, OpenColorIO and OFX hosting, pitch-preserving time-stretch, and tracked and masked effects.
